Pixel images in Grafis Marker making
Pixel images can be used in Grafis Marker making as
- Fabric background with or without transparency
- Fill/ Brush
- Symbol/ Logo
In Grafis Marker making, pixel images have many applications. Images of patterned fabrics can be positioned in the background of the material to enable fabric matching of pattern pieces. Outline images of leather skins or particularly shaped fabric as fabric background facilitate the appropriate positioning of pattern pieces. Digital print adapted to pattern pieces can be prepared and correct positioning of logos is easily implemented.
Fabric background without transparency is useful for matching patterned fabric with the marker and for positioning pattern pieces on particular cutting material. Fabric background with transparency is equally used for matching patterned fabric with the marker. Fill area is especially suitable for digital print as a pixel image is directly assigned to a pattern pieces and the fill can be moved within the pattern piece. With symbol/ logo, pixel logos are output at various positions previously prepared in Grafis Construction, see Load and manage Pixel images.
Pixel image as background image ![]()
One or more images can be loaded into a marker as background. They appear on the fabric in the position assigned as offset point in the Pixel image menu. These can be marker templates or images of cutting material such as truck tarpaulin or leather skins.
Pixel image as background image
with repeat
For the pixel image type background image there are additionally switches repeat x
and repeat y
in the menu.
These switches activate the repetition of the image based on its own size.
If pattern repeat are activated for the marker making in the Material dialogue, the repeat are used for pattern repeat, regardless of whether a repeating of the pixel image has been set in the Pixel images menu. The repeat setting always has priority. In this way, image sections of a material can also be evenly repeated to form a full area
In the following example, a section of a chequered material was loaded as a pixel image, see Figure 1. In the Material dialogue under Repeat the values of the image were automatically determined using the button Values from image and adopted under Distancefor warp and weft, see. picture 2. The pixel image is automatically reported at the repeat lines in warp and weft, see picture 3.

Fill/ brush ![]()
For the pixel image type fill/ brush an additional function is available. With this function, one or more pattern pieces can be selected to be filled with this fill/ brush in the marker. Clicking the Piece column opens the list of all pieces for selection.
A further button in the menu sets whether the fill is to be mirrored in mirrored pattern pieces.
The offset for the fill is set to the bottom left corner of the pattern pieces as standard.
In marker
for every part the offset for the fill can be moved interactively or via value entry for each pattern piece separately. To do this, switch to the workspace marker
and open marker Information → shift brush. The Offset value dialogue opens.

Now click on the fill. The offset values for this fill appear. The offset values can be altered by dragging the fill with the mouse or by entering new offset values. The offset
for the fill is set to the bottom left corner of the pattern pieces as standard. Click on the source fill and then, in the dialogue, click on the button
. Then, click on the target fill and on
. During output of the marker, the switch Fill/ brush determines whether the fill is printed or not.
Symbol/ Logo
The logo position and their direction and logo IDs must already be constructed or assigned with the text label in Grafis Patternmaking. In Grafis Marker making, pattern pieces cannot be assigned new logo positions or new logo IDs. During transfer of data from Grafis Patternmaking to Grafis Marker making, pixel images are not transferred. The pixel images for logos must be loaded in Grafis Marker making in the Manage pixel images menu and assigned an ID.
Output of background images, fills and logos
In the dialogue Plot file under Plot information, you can specify whether the background image, the area fill or the logos should also be printed .
